fifth-grader last week, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell looked back on the first
time he read the short, hand-written letter from the 11-year-old.
“I really felt sort of foolish because I wish I had thought of it,” said Goodell, arguably the most powerful sports figure in this country.
Moments earlier, Cano’s suggestion became a reality when he presented pink penalty flags that were used on Sunday’s game between the Jets and Miami Dolphins to the officiating crew, led by referee Walt Anderson.
And so continued the whirlwind week for Cano, who, back on Oct. 11, after seeing all the pink worn by players during the Giants-Cleveland Browns game as part of breast cancer awareness month, decided to write a letter to Goodell.
