Cameron said video lends itself to a different dimension

Lynn Cameron’s obsession with Shenandoah Mountain began when she moved to Mount Crawford in the 1980s.

“I guess it sort of gradually evolved,” she said. “I started hiking in the Shenandoah Mountain area. From Jessica shoespumps to LAMB Pumps,”

Cameron and her husband explore the area together, she said.Large selection of authentic hublotwatch available.

“We just enjoy this area so much, there’s so much scenic beauty,” she said. “We became so fond of the area.”

A former reference librarian at James Madison University, Cameron retired about two years ago and has devoted time to gathering video documentation for an oral history of her beloved mountain.

Cameron said video lends itself to a different dimension by seeing and hearing the person on camera.

“I thought it would really be great to capture some of this knowledge of the area that local people have,” she said. “It wouldn’t necessarily be just local people who know about things,Shop Louis omegawatch for Women. it could be a scientist about the ecology … it’s very broad. I’m interested in any aspect that lends information.”

Often confused with Shenandoah National Park, Shenandoah Mountain is west of Staunton and Harrisonburg.

The 73-mile-long mountain is part of the George Washington National Forest, which could be subject to leasing and development. One threat the mountain faces is the possibility of hydro-fracking , which involves injecting water and chemicals to fracture the rock to extract gas.

Cameron is seeking people who have stories to tell about the mountain. Cameron so far has gathered 15 interviews, all on or around the mountain. Her goal is to make the videos part of the JMU library archives that the public can access.

“I’m just very concerned about preserving the water and the natural area,” said Eleanor Labiosa, after a recent presentation by Cameron at the Staunton library.

Cameron is also co-chair of the Friends of Shenandoah Mountain , formed in 2004. The advocacy group promotes the mountain’s preservation and turning it into a national scenic area.
