A gang of tech-savvy burglars who specialize in hitting jewellery shops and ensure that they leave no trace behind are on the prowl. On Tuesday, city cops found that the hard disk was stolen from a CPU which stored the CCTV footage of the shop. The burglary had taken place at a silver jewellery shop in Sankdi Sheri pol of Raipur early on Tuesday. The thieves made off with a consignment of 22 kg of silver ornaments. A complaint was registered at Khadia police station against the yet-unidentified thieves.

"There are reasons to suspect that there is a gang of thieves involved which includes a person who knows about computer hardware and how CCTV cameras work. In a daring incident, a five-member-gang snatched away a whopping four-kg of gold jewellery after waylaying two jewellery merchants from Kerala in the wee hours of Wednesday.The dgshoessale again in a colorway that any Nike fan can love.

The incident took place in Sunnambukara street when Jothi Rafael, 41 and Vinothkumar, 32, jewellery merchants from Thrissur were on the way to their lodge. They came with around four-kg of finished jewellery products in a private bus. The gang also pounced on them and thrashed them, said a police source.

K Feroz Khan Abdullah, deputy commissioner, crime and traffic, Madurai city said, "We have got some clues based on which the investigation are underway. The gangsters might have followed the duo from Kerala and executed their plan. The amount of gold jewellery lost could be around four-kg. However, it would be established only after verifying the documents. The proprietor of the gold is on his way from Kerala," he said.

City police have formed 30 police teams, one of which has been sent to Kerala. All the check-posts and toll plazas have been alerted. Police teams are gathering the list of persons who stayed in lodges on Tuesday night. Footages of closed circuit television cameras from the city and also from toll plazas have been gathered and being checked, said the deputy commissioner.

The merchants have being visiting Madurai for the last one year. They would visit once in a month with the gold ornaments and supply to their customers. They also take back orders from the jewellery shops. Investigation with the merchants revealed that they did not recognise the gangsters. The worth of the gold jewellery is estimated at more than Rs one crore, said the police source.
