saw her dear school friend show enormous spirit and strength after suffering
from breast cancer and undergoing a double mastectomy, she desperately wanted to
help fight the disease.

“My friend had cancer in one breast and because she has children – and didn’t want to risk not being with them – she had the second breast removed to limit the chance of it spreading,” Uno said.
“It brought tears to my eyes, seeing her having to make such a courageous decision like that.

A ONE man crime wave has stolen everything from iPads to jewellery in a burglary spree across a South Shore neighbourhood.
In the last month nine houses have been targeted, with the thief targeting laptops, tablet computers, televisions and game consoles as well as cash and jewellery.
Homes in the Lytham Road, Highfield Road and Harrowside areas have all been broken into after the thief forced their way in or used unlocked doors and windows to gain access.
And today police confirmed they are linking the nine incidents, and believe the same person could be responsible for all of them.
Det Con Ian Massey, from Blackpool CID, told The Gazette: “Burglary in Blackpool is significantly down this year but in this case we are linking these crimes and are following a number of different lines of inquiry.
“If anyone has any information about these crimes or the whereabouts of any of the stolen property I would urge them to come forward and contact us.
“We take burglary very seriously and are determined to catch those responsible.”
And police have urged residents in the area to ensure they secure their properties to deter further break-ins.
Det Con Massey added: “I would ask people to be vigilant and make sure they lock their doors and windows and keep their belongings safe.
“People should also use security devices such as UV pens to mark valuable items.”
Squires Gate councillor Doug Green has urged any residents affected, or who are worried about burglaries in the area, to attend the ward’s PACT meeting next week.
Coun Green said: “Despite the programme which was on last year about 999 calls in Blackpool, usually when you get reports from the police and fire brigade the criminal activity in Blackpool is nowhere near as bad as was portrayed.
“But we do need to remind people they should take proper security precautions, and perhaps with family visiting over Christmas doors have been unlocked.
