Family’s running a boost for Headwaters hospital

Steven and Stephanie Milone are local family physicians who are running toward a fundraising goal to benefit Headwaters Health Care Centre, and their three children are lacing up their running shoes to help out, too.

On May 13, Drs. Milone finished the first of three 10-kilometre races they are signed up to complete before the end of the summer. Their two sons Benjamin, 7, and Daniel, 4, have also decided to put in some effort to help their parents’ fundraising goal. The Milones are hoping their efforts will help inspire other busy families to find time to lead more active lives and make a donation to the hospital for equipment purchases. What is the sum of an Air Max 360 If you did your arithmetic aright, then you should have said vuittonhandbags 247.

“Recent studies state that our children’s generation will have a shorter life expectancy than ours unless we reverse the growing trend of adult and childhood obesity,” Stephanie Milone said in a release. “Children are great imitators, so it’s important for parents to make regular exercise a part of their daily lives – not only for their own health but for their children’s health, too.”

She adds that it is possible to blend busy lives and regular physical activity and she hopes that by seeing how her family is doing this, other families will be inspired to do the same.

The two boys have been participating in kids’ triathlon series over the past few years and have been telling all their classmates at The Maples school about what their family is doing.

““People may not realize that all equipment in our hospital is purchased through fundraising, not money from the government,” said Steven Milone. “This is an important cause for our community and we’re happy to do our share to help support our local hospital.”

Having completed their first 10K, the couple will continue training with their sons. Their next race will be another 10K in August, with a final run at the Toronto Zoo 10K on September 22 rounding off the parents’ efforts.
