Police are warning residents to be vigilant following a spate of burglaries across the Dispatch district.

In the run-up to Christmas many people are purchasing expensive items like laptops and games consoles which are very attractive to thieves. Now officers are asking home-owners to make sure their properties are secure and nothing is left on display to attract unwanted visitors.

On Saturday November 10, in Marie Gardens Hucknall, the bottom panel of the rear door to a house was kicked in. A PlayStation with games, a laptop computer and jewellery were taken.

On the same day, in Garden Road, Hucknall, the owner saw an intruder leaning through an open front window of their house. Cigarettes, cash and jewellery were stolen.

Also on Saturday November 10, on Eric Avenue, Hucknall, the patio doors to a house were forced and a full search of the property was made. Nothing was taken.

On Sunday November 11, on Coates Avenue Hucknall, a house was broken into through an unlocked back door while the owners were away. A laptop and jewellery were taken.

Also on Sunday two properties on Wighay Road, Hucknall were burgled. The first property was entered by removing a rear bedroom window. Nothing was taken.

A neighbour reported the break in at the second property. Entry was via a rear kitchen window. A laptop and jewellery were taken.

Operation Divot has been extended in response to these burglaries. Extra officers are being deployed at key points throughout the day as well as at night with the aim of disrupting further attacks.

Last week, four burglars from the city operating in the Hucknall area were arrested and on November 15 a further arrest was made.
